Experiences Port Stephens

Something for everyone to do

Natural Beauty

Surrounded by National Parks and protected Conservation areas, if immersing yourself in nature is your idea of a great time then Port Stephens has you covered. Our region is an aquatic haven, but can also be easily enjoyed on foot. Take in the sites through any number of walking paths through the Tomaree National Park, or brave the waves and go for a dip at Wreck Beach, a local favorite, secluded, walk in-access-only beach.

Activities for everyone

If adventure is more your idea of a good time there’s no shortage of activities to keep you moving. Local dive shops run scuba diving and snorkeling trips out to Broughton Island, or you can snorkel along the conservation area at Halifax to Shoal Bay. Why not learn to surf at One Mile Beach, or book a sand-boarding trip and explore Stockton Sand Dunes and the Worimi Conservation area in a 4×4. If that’s not enough there’s cycle ways, mountain bike trails, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding in the bay. There’s also boat hire, charter fishing, whale watching and sailing cruises where you’ll spot dolphins, sea turtles and even the occasional penguin if you’re lucky.

Something for the kids

Port Stephens is great for kids and families, whether it’s playing in the calm waters of the bay that appeals to you, or getting up close and personal with some local wildlife, there’s something for everyone. Animal lovers are in for a treat when they drop in at Oakvale and meet a mix of furry and feathery friends. Or you can stop by Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters and dip your feet in the Fingill Lagoon and learn from local biologists about the importance of protecting our marine environments and sealife. There’s also the Nelson Bay cinema, Ten Pin Bowling and Toboggan Hill to keep you entertained on rainy days.

Room 101 is absolutely beautiful and you can walk straight out into the spa or pool. The room itself is spectacular, all the little touches from the toiletries, bread, juice and milk that's provided to the heated bathroom tiles! The staff are super friendly and informative and the stay here was definitely not long enough. Can't wait to stay here again! - Rachel S - TripAdvisor

Room 203 for us and from the moment you walk in and take in the amazing views you automatically start relaxing. Everything is first class from staff to room quality and the location. We will keep coming back. - Lesley F - TripAdvisor

Stayed in apartment 302 which was excellent. The bedrooms rooms were clean and tidy. The toiletries well top class and plentiful. The decor was both stylish and comfortable. The welcome breakfast pack was a great idea. Disappointing that our awning was not functional, the afternoon sun limited our time on the balcony. The paddle boards and kayak were well received. Great getaway and will be back. - Thommo178 - TripAdvisor

Been coming to Amarna for over 10 years , every year and sometimes in winter too Absolutely love the place Staff and rooms are amazing Perfect place to unwind and just take in the sunsets Tell them Peter and Penny sent you LOL - Peter P - TripAdvisor

We thoroughly enjoyed every single aspect of our stay at the Amarna Resort from the moment we checked in until the moment we left. It has a beautiful family environment to it and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway with the most fabulous water views. Our family has stayed here every year and we keep coming back as we love it here so much. - Ali - TripAdvisor

If I could give six stars I would. Really beautiful spot, quiet. Short delightful walk to centre. Impeccable pool and access to great beach. Every employee was a delight to deal with. If you can’t relax here... you will not be able to do it anywhere in the world! Amazing apartments with all the comforts: large fridge, coffee machine topped everyday. All amenities top quality. - VeroC - TripAdvisor

Excellent apartments with stunning views. So rare to be absolute beachfront, no road in between . A great 25 metre pool. The best we have found. The staff are very friendly and helpful and housekeeping prompt and most efficient. We have been for the last 2 years and certainly plan to return. - Jennifer H - TripAdvisor
